Czech distributor of medical cannabis Annabis Medical announces acquisition by Canopy Growth Corporation

Annabis Medical s.r.o. (“Annabis Medical”) is proud to announce it has completed an acquisition agreement with Canopy Growth Corporation (TSX:WEED) (“Canopy Growth” or the “Company”). This transaction will bring synergies to the Czech market by combining Canopy Growth’s extensive global experience and renowned Spectrum Cannabis brand with Annabis Medical’s network as well as physician and pharmacist education activities.

Annabis Medical is the leader in the Czech Republic’s medical cannabis industry and currently imports and distributes cannabis products pursuant to federal Czech licenses, with products for sale through pharmacy channels across the Czech Republic. Annabis Medical s.r.o is the sister company of Annabis s.r.o., one of the largest hemp cosmetics producers in the European Union. Its founder and CEO, Dr. Robin Kazík, will continue to lead and grow the Czech subsidiary as part of the larger Canopy Growth family.

“With a strong footprint and established distribution network in the Czech medical cannabis market, as well as a history of importing Canadian cannabis, we are excited to join Canopy Growth. This move will allow us to more rapidly diversify our product offering and strengthen our access to supply as we scale in the market,” said Dr. Robin Kazík, Founder and CEO of Annabis Medical. “This transaction is beneficial for Czech patients as Annabis Medical will expand its medical doctor and pharmacist education activities to further the knowledge transfer in medical Cannabis treatment. Further, Annabis Medical currently holds an import permit issued by the Ministry of Health and we expect a new delivery of medical Cannabis to Czech patients in a short time.’’

The acquisition of Annabis Medical builds on Canopy Growth’s position of leadership in the European medical cannabis space and follows the recent partnership and supply agreement with Spanish pharmaceutical leader Alcaliber S.A. Additionally, Canopy Growth currently supplies the German market through its subsidiary, Spektrum Cannabis GmbH, and has formed a partnership, Spectrum Cannabis Denmark ApS, which is licensed to cultivate cannabis in a 40,000 square meter greenhouse production facility located in Odense, Denmark. These assets, combined with Canopy Growth’s unparalleled Canadian production and sales platforms, represent the world’s largest and most diversified cannabis platform.

“This acquisition is another example of our commitment to expanding Canopy’s European presence and furthering our position of leadership,” said Mark Zekulin, President, Canopy Growth. “We look forward to supplying Czech customers with our high quality, GMP-produced medical cannabis products, and providing further resources to support education for Czech pharmacists, patients and healthcare practitioners.”

Choose Annabis, the natural & organic hemp cosmetics

Natural cosmetics doesn’t contain synthetic perfumes or dyes, silicones, transgenic or oil derivatives such as parabens, mineral oils, or paraffins. Don’t forget that skin is the largest organ in your body. Take care of it accordingly.

IT’S HEALTHIER

The most frequent statement, but it’s true. No organ functions independently of the others, and if we don’t take a good care of one, this may manifest in another one. Our body is a sophisticated system where everything has its substantiation and function. A proper care of our skin can save us a lot of troubles. Furthermore, a glowing healthy complexion, shining thick hair, and firm skin are the definition of beauty.

YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE USING

We’ve slowly become accustomed to reading the composition of foods. We’re what we eat and the same holds for cosmetics. Skin absorbs everything we give to it, which is why we should be strongly interested in composition when it comes to cosmetics. To make sure cosmetics is truly natural, look for the logo of certification companies so that you can be certain about the products’ quality.

IT’S GENTLE TO THE ENVIRONMENT

It’s not only about our health, but also about healthy environment for all. You can’t lead a healthy life in an unhealthy, destroyed environment. Most brands of natural cosmetics testify to this philosophy and the enthusiasm of their founders. But even if we were to take the pragmatic approach, you need to get natural ingredients somewhere if you want to make products out of them. Harming one’s business by harming the environment is rather short-sighted. By purchasing natural cosmetics, you support all of these aspects. It’s only up to you how much you want to contribute.

IT PAYS OFF

Natural cosmetics saves you money! How’s that possible? You make a one-time saving on a cheap product, but natural cosmetics pays off long-term. That’s because the usual products at best mask the problem, and at worst cause new ones to emerge. On the other hand, natural cosmetics tries to whip you into shape so that you’re beautiful and healthy. Forget about using tons of ointments and other things which altogether cost a fortune and time and solve your problems only temporarily.

IT’S SAFE

What doesn’t harm in a single small dose can cause problems in case of a prolonged use; lead, for example, or other questionable ingredients which can often be found in conventional cosmetics. Sometimes, such harmful effects are detected years after the product was launched. Additionally, the term “cocktail effect” is starting to be notorious. Over the course of each day, we generally use several products. Although each one of them contains only safe, small amount of an undesirable substance, their effect is cumulative, and they get through the skin inside the body. How strong this cocktail ultimately becomes is fortunately up to you.

LONG-TERM EFFECT

Probably the biggest advantage of natural cosmetics is its long-term effect. When you use products which enhance the skin’s resistance, harmonize its functions, and don’t harm it needlessly, you might not see the effect the very next day. However, after a while you’ll be enjoying it all the time. That’s because natural cosmetics isn’t about immediate improvement, rather about providing a permanent remedy. We want skin which is clear, healthy, and ages as slowly as possible.

“Choose natural products which respect both your body and our planet.”

ORGANIC AND NATURAL COSMETICS CERTIFICATION

WE HAVE A GREAT NEWS!

Majority of our hemp products have been awarded with the CPK certificate issued by KEZ o.p.s. – the first Czech accredited control and certification organization for natural and organic cosmetics.

Natural CPK certificate

The CPK certification brand was founded in 2007. The main goals of this company are: to facilitate the consumer’s awareness of the natural cosmetics market; health protection; and environmental protection. Any producer can request to be certified, and if the product fulfils the strict criteria, its packaging may bear the CPK logo, a guarantee of the product’s genuine natural character. The certificate, based on the standards set by the French company Ecocert, guarantees that the product doesn’t contain any synthetic compounds and substances harmful to the human body. CPK certification is granted by KEZ – Kontrola ekologického zemědělství o.p.s. in the Czech Republic, an independent inspecting authority which also inspects ecological farming. One of the most important requirements for obtaining this certification is that the product is made exclusively from natural ingredients which were picked in an environmentally-friendly manner. Environmental protection and the least impact on the environment are emphasized.

The product mustn’t contain any synthetic compounds and substances harmful to human health. It’s also forbidden to use genetically modified ingredients, petroleum derivatives, synthetic fragrant substances, chemical preservatives, artificial dyes, chemical UV filters, and animal-based products whose procurement involved the death of an animal (substances such as lanolin, honey, or milk – i.e. those not dependent on an animal’s death – are an exception). Products can’t be tested on animals. Just like most foreign certifications, CPK pays attention not only to the composition of products, but also to the method of their manufacturing and their packaging materials. Respect for the carrying capacity of ecosystems, and recyclability of packaging are desired.

Natural CPK Organic certificate

CPK Organic is a stricter version of the CPK certificate. The basic criteria aren’t much different, but in order to obtain the “bio” version, organic ingredients must constitute at least 20% of the overall composition. The adjective “organic” guarantees not only the CPK certification standards (i.e. the prohibition of synthetic and harmful substances, environmentally-friendly approach, etc.), but also that ingredients produced by ecological farming were used. CPK organic certification is granted by KEZ – Kontrola ekologického zemědělství o.p.s. in the Czech Republic, an independent inspecting authority which also inspects ecological farming.

How to treat atopic eczema – can Annabis hemp cosmetics help?

Atopic eczema is, for many reasons, unpleasant not only for children but also adults. How can we help ourselves? The cause of atopic eczema is the tendency of the body to over-react to substances. It is aggravated by animal products such as cow’s milk, eggs, but also fish or citrus fruit. It is also adversely affected by weather changes and stress. The term eczema is derived from the Greek word ‘eczeo’ meaning something that rises to the surface, that is to say the surface of the skin. From this we can conclude that it is appropriate to treat eczema primarily internally, when the disharmony of the body manifests itself on our skin.

1) Exclude allergens

Treatment plays an important role in whether we are able to identify allergens and exclude them. Watch your side and write down your diet, making it clearer which substances may not be doing you well after some time. Visit an allergist and an immunologist who can confirm the substances that are not beneficial to you.

2) Adjust your regimen

The main thing, however, is adjusting your regimen. Have enough movement and sleep in particular, it is very important for the regeneration of our body. Avoid artificial fibres, leather fabric and wool fabric.

3) Beware of washing

Use only natural washing detergents, preferably marked as Sensitive, which are also suitable for small children. Also is better to avoid fabric softeners or to use a natural fabric softener.

4) Shower and bath

You should be aware whether a regular washing does you good or, on the contrary, it is not beneficial to your skin. Tap water dries it in most cases, and if you want to indulge in a bath, it is advisable to add Cannol hemp oil to the bath. Skin hydration and body lotion application are required after each bath. Bodycann body milk is suitable even for the most sensitive skin.

5) It is appropriate to adapt the environment

Eczematous persons should live in a smoke-free environment, preferably without animals carrying viruses and allergens. It is appropriate to live without carpets and do not use feather blankets and pillows. It is advisable to maintain humidity in your flat, for example, with ionizers or diffusers in which you can add essential oils that are good for your psyche.

6) Adjust your eating habits

Eczema must be solved internally. The most important is the omission of animal products, especially cow’s milk and products thereof (milk, cheese, cream, etc.) that do not belong in a healthy human organism either. High allergens include nuts, tomatoes, wheat, strawberries, citrus fruit, chocolate, almonds, fish, crustaceans, smoked meat products and red meat. It is advisable to use at least one tablespoon of hemp oil a day, which contains the ideal ratio of unsaturated fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6, containing the necessary vitamins and minerals. Try to reduce sugar and drink enough fluids, especially clean, non-sparkling water. Strengthen your immune system with high doses of vitamin C and other superfoods, such as Aloe vera, green barley or Chlorella.

7) Try hemp cosmetic

The natural and long-term solution is hemp. Products can be added to your bath, applied on skin, used to protect or nourish the skin. Hemp foods provide the necessary substances and nutrition from within. Hemp has high antibacterial effects and has a particularly beneficial effect on skin problems. It is important to select the right product.

8) Beware of corticosteroids

Physicians most often prescribe corticoids for eczema treatment, but these may have side effects and the eczema often returns after discontinuing them. Corticoid ointment treatment is always in the hands of a doctor as it is not completely free of side effects. Atopicann natural cream is suitable after the corticoid treatment as it can significantly enhance the overall condition and appearance of the skin with regular application.

What do you know about hyaluronic acid?

What is the hyaluronic acid?

The hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin fibers form the basic structures of the skin. Unfortunately, the amount of the hyaluronic acid decreases with age (approximately, after 40 years of age, there is only half of it) and the undesired effect is, simply put, the aging of the skin. Its properties are based on connecting the fibers of collagen and elastin and on its extraordinary ability to bind the water molecules. Its effect against aging is based also on mobilizing the skin’s production of its own hyaluronic acid, slowing down the decomposition of collagen fibers and in antioxidant activity. This compound has alleviating, regenerative effect and stimulates the formation of new skin cells. The result is the necessary hydration, elasticity and strength of the skin and its smooth, youthful appearance.

The effects of the hyaluronic acid on the skin

  • Intensive hydration
  • It makes the skin firm and smooth
  • It has anti-wrinkle effect (it swells and fills up wrinkles and cracks from the inside)
  • It forms suitable environment for reactions occurring in the skin, including the synthesis of collagen and elastin
  • It has antioxidant effects and fights free-radicals
  • It regulates cell division and rejuvenation in the skin
  • It has intensive anti-inflammatory and healing effects, it is used to treat damaged skin (for example skin damaged by burns)
  • It enables the penetration and activity of other cosmetic active substances into the deeper layers of the skin
  • It improves hair and skin quality

CREMCANN HYALURON contains 3 types of hyaluronic acid: one low molecular weight HA and two high molecular weigh HA. This hyaluronic acid is produced by bacterial fermentation. This is a new technology for obtaining hyaluronic acid using Streptococcus zooepidemicus, therefore it is produced in a non-animal form. These acids differ from each other by their molecular weight and can be divided into:

High molecular weight HA has no chance to penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, but there is a task for it on the skin’s surface. It adsorbs moisture from the surrounding environment and forms a barrier that prevents the transdermal loss of water and skin drying. Thanks to that, the skin maintains smooth and elastic surface. It has the ability to intensively hydrate the skin and it immediately smooths the skin.

Low molecular weight HA binds moisture, swells up like a sponge, seals up intercellular spaces and smooths the wrinkles of the skin. It has the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin, improves its elasticity and tension and forms moisturizing reserves and revitalizes intercellular retention of water in the skin. Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid acts in the deeper layers of the skin. That is something that the high molecular weight HA is not able to do.
